Access Statement Old Shire Stables
Accessability for self catering accommodation at 
Troutsdale Farm, Springbank Wood, Blackshaw Moor, Buxton Road,  Leek, Staffordshire, ST13 8TJ


  • At Troutsdale Farm we have two holiday cottages, the Old Shire Stables which sleeps 6 and The Old Cartshed which sleeps 10. 
  • Bookings & enquiries can be taken by telephone or e-mail, large print is available on request. 
  • Our nearest towns are Leek (approx 2 miles) and Buxton (approx 10 miles) as we are located in the countryside a car is recommended to make the most of your holiday. 
  • We are however just off the main Leek to Buxton Road (A53) and there is a main service with a Bus Stop in the nearestvillageofBlackshaw Moorby the Three Horse Shoes Inn (approx 1 mile).
  • The nearest train stations are Buxton (10 miles), Stoke (11 miles), Macclesfield (10 miles), Congleton (11 miles). 
  • Leek has a mobility shop located at the back of Wilkinson store.
 
Accessability at Troutsdale Farm
Due to Troutsdale Farm Self catering barns being a conversion from old barns dating back to the 1900's we cannot offer our mobility-impaired guests total access to our accommodation, as we would wish. The information given may help in assessing your decision to stay with us.         

We do not wish anyone to book a visit that is unlikely to suit and we will offer our best advice to all prospective guests. Please ask us before booking if you are at all doubtful or have any particular needs that you would like us to know about.

There is Tourist Information leaflets and maps on visitor attractions and the local area in each barn. We know the area very well and can make suitable recommendations according to your interests and needs. Most mobile phone networks do work in the area.         

Please do ask for further information as we are aware that every person has different needs, only you are able to decide to what extent we are able to accommodate your own specific needs so we are happy to answer your queries.

OLD SHIRE STABLES COTTAGE - (sleeps 6 cot cot  - and can sleep 8 if using double sofa bed in lounge)
Parking & Arrival
  • There is parking outside the cottage for 3 cars. Parking is on a level concrete area 
  • The approach to the front door is over a small area of gravel chippings and thenYorkshireflags
  • 2 steps allows access through the front door and into the hallway.
  • If arriving at night the outside light will be left on which lights up the path & front door
  • The cottage
  • There is a large oak front door.
  • To the left is a downstairs toilet with sink.
  • The ground floor is on one level into the hallway and sitting room and downstairs toilet room. Then there is a small step (approx 4 inches) down into the kitchen/dining area.
  • All 3 bedrooms are on the 1st floor with access via open tread wooden stair case with turns.
  • There are 3 bedrooms, 1 ensuite, a family bathroom and large landing area.
 
Entrance Hall
  • Large entrance hall with original old blue herringbone bricks and underfloor heating.
  • 2 doors leading to downstairs toilet on immediate left and further left is door to the living room, which then leads onto the kitchen/dining on the right with a small step down into the kitchen/dining area
  • Open tread wooden staircase (with turns) which leads to all bedroom accomdodation on the 1st floor.
  • There is a handrail on the right hand side as you go up.
  • Hall Stand

Kitchen/dining area
  • Old blue brick flooring - with underfloor heating
  • Pine rectangular dining table with a clear underspace all round & 4 pine high backed dining chairs with no arm rests. 1 Pine dining bench sits 2-3 people along one length of the dining table.
  • Oak and grantie work surface on base units.
  • Double Belfast sink with mixer tap and lever handle
  • Electric free standing cooker which sits between base units, with double oven and hob with twist controls at the front.
  • Under unit dishwasher
  • 50/50 fridge freezer
  • Under unit cupboard storage space
  • Toaster, microwave & cordless kettle provided on base units.
  • Under unit & wall cupboard storage space – there are no wall cupboards.
  • Some glasses are placed on wall shelf
  • A microwave can be provided at a lower level & also plates & cups & glasses etc if require

Living room
  • A wool carpeted floor with 2 sofas and 1 easy chair with arm rests and wooden rocking chair.
  • Television with remote and teletext.
  • DVD Player.
  • CD Player.
  • French Double doors (fully opening doors at one end) which opens out onto 3 terraced steps leading down onto the lawn. Small flat bricked patio area, the grassed area is flat. There isYorkshirestone paving path around the barn.

Toilet Room
  • Original old blue brick herringbone floor with sink and toilet mats.
  • Standard size toilet with right hand lever flush.
  • Sink with straight edge and separate hot and cold taps.
  • Underfloor heating
 

1ST FLOOR
  • All bedroom accommodation is on the first floor via a open tread wooden staircase with turns.
  • There is a handrail on the right hand side as you go up.
  • Each bed is provided with a bottom sheet and continental duvet & cover, with rugs available. There are sufficient pillows for 2 pillows per person and additional pillows are available on request, we have both feather and synthetic pillow
 
BEDROOM 1  - with 1 double bed - and en-suite shower room
  • Oak Boarded floor with sink and toilet mats.
  • Enclosed shower area with shower door
  • 1 shower head fixed

  • WC with dual flush lever on top of unit

  • 1 bedside table with individual bedside lamp.
  • Main light switch is on the wall by door as you go into bedroom
  • Single wardrobe with coat hangers and shelf
  • Tall chest of drawers, 4 draws with small mirror and individual lamp on top.

BEDROOM 3 - with 2 single beds
  • Larch boarded doorway
  • Oak board floor
  • Twin divan beds, with left or right hand transfer
  • 1 has bedside table with individual lamp
  • 1 has bedside chest with draw and individual lamp
  • Tall clothes unit with 2 small draws and 2 shelves with small mirror
  • Bespoke wood clothes rail with wooden hangers.
  • Bedside cabinets with individual lamps
  • Main light switch is on the wall by door as you go into bedroom.

Family Bathroom

  • 2 steps down into wildflower meadow via gate.
  • Charcol BBQ at fixed height on grassed area.

  • Step up into backdoor kitchen entrance.
  • Wooden picnic bench seating 6 people.
