Old Shire Stables Cottage

FANTASTIC BASE FOR OUR TWO FAMILIES

Although only a short drive from our own home your cottages could have been several hundred miles from it. They have provided a fantastic base for our two families on the occasion of our daughters wedding in Leek. Thank you so much

SECOND VISIT - SAME HIGH STANDARDS & WELCOME

Thank very much. Good to see the area in the Springtime. Everything is so green and the wildflowers superb. Would recommend Biddulph Gardens (National Trust) and Chatsworth well worth the entry fee. Cycling The Manifold Valley was fun and not difficult, particularly good for children as most of it is traffic free. Leek also worth exploring, interesting market and antique shops.

A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!

We spent a few days in late August in the Old Cartshed accommodation. It was a family reunion with grandma, granddad, daddies, mummies and six children.

We enjoyed every minute of it. The place was immaculate so we didn't want for anything. We loved the warm welcome from Barbara who showed us round and explained the ins-and-outs of the place to us. Every detail was taken care of, so we could just slip into holiday mode and unwind.

To our great surprise a delicious home-baked Victoria sponge cake waited on the table which was decorated with a bunch of exquisite flowers, picked fresh from the meadow. We had a cuppa, sat down and relaxed.

The children loved the nooks and crannies of the house and enjoyed the secure outside space where they could play at their leisure. It was possible to take extended walks from the cottage without having to take cars, and the children enjoyed exploring those and the hills beyond. There is also a lot to do within a radius of an hour's car drive which again is a bonus if you are coming with children.

There is a good atmosphere about the whole place. It's a happy place. We can highly recommend it.

Alas, the time there was too short. Hopefully we can stay longer next time.

SUPERB STAY IN ECO CONVERSION

Our stay in this beautiful part of UK was amazing. With no accommodation booked for a 6 day section of our tour we chanced upon Troutsdale Farm and how lucky we're we! This immaculately presented barn conversion has so much history and the owners have built a beautiful retreat in a peaceful farm where you can relax and enjoy touring the nearby towns or just sit by the log fire and recharge completely. We found nothing to compare with these cottages during our 6 weeks of touring UK and with everything you need in the beautiful cottage including free range fresh eggs and an abundant herb garden you may not want to leave - we didn't. Thank you Barbara, Ray and Kathryn for your hospitality.

BEAUTIFUL BARNS - A STAY SO COMFORTABLE AND RELAXING

Thank you all so very much for making our stay so comfortable and relaxing! The family have visited us while we have been here and cannot believe how beautiful the barns are (it was a pity they were unable to stay with us!). We found your information books very helpful, even thought we live in the area! A GOOD BASE TO VISIT WIDER AREA & ATTRACTIONS

A great barn conversion with lovely finishing touches. Beautiful views and superb location. Good base from which to visit Buxton, Bakewell and Ashbourne and see Haddon Hall, Kederston Hall (N.T.), and Sudbury Hall and The Children's Musuem (N.T.), as well as The Potteries Shopping Centre at Hanley (Stoke). Trentham Gardens was most enjoyable. Eating out can be recommended at The Lazy Trout, The Three Horse Shoes, and The Engine Room (market place, Leek) & Primo Piano - pizzeria (just off the market Place, Leek). A holiday to recommend to your friends.

Reviews can now be seen all over the internet - and it would seem that wherever we advertise they all seem to want you to put the reviews on THEIR site - and then 'THEY own them' .... they all then often want you to book via them and earn/charge their commission/booking fee - and if you leave them then all your hard worked for reviews you loose!
